Rahera left school after completing her sixth form year, spending the next few years in a series of seasonal and casual jobs in Auckland and Rotorua, until at the end of 2006 she decided that this was not the life she wanted to lead.

Rahera made the commitment to move to Whakatane, and enrolled with a local training provider.  She worked hard, completed four National Certificates within 9 months and then worked as a volunteer in their office to gain practical work skills.

In January 2008, Rahera joined a 4-week programme offered by EmployNZ Whakatane, designed to support those wanting an administration career into work.

Now an essential member of the clerical pool at Whakatane Hospital, Rahera is gaining experience working in the different administrative roles in the hospital.  She is continuing her studies in computing, and plans to study part-time to achieve her National Certificate in Computing level 4 to ensure that she is always going to be in demand.
